Environmental care, local knowledge, food, language, art, stories, and family life are connected at Dikasih. Guests are invited to learn respectfully, not demand a staged attraction.

The Environment Shapes Daily Life
The coast, soil, trees, plants, wildlife, weather, water, and seasons influence what can be planted, what ingredients are available, how people travel, how homes are built, and when activities are possible.
The goal is not to collect the greatest number of activities. It is to understand how local life is connected to the environment.
Nature does not exist to complete a visitor’s checklist, and culture does not exist only to entertain travellers.

Menanam — Planting
Begin with trees, mangroves, food crops, herbs, natural-dye plants, ideas, and responsibility.
Menyiram — Watering
Continue after the ceremony. Repetition, education, and sustained relationships keep good intentions alive.
Merawat — Caring
Observe real needs, repair damage, adapt to weather, protect young growth, and learn from failure.
Menjaga — Guarding
Protect habitats, sensitive information, community trust, traditional knowledge, and what has already begun to grow.
Memanen — Harvesting
Receive long-term benefits such as shade, healthier soil, coastal protection, awareness, relationships, and opportunities for future generations.

Reforestation & Tree Care
Choosing suitable plants, caring through dry periods, replacing failed seedlings, and understanding that planting numbers alone do not prove success.
Mangroves & Coastal Awareness
Nursery support, planting when ecologically suitable, shoreline awareness, and respect for local knowledge and sediment conditions.
Sea Turtle Conservation Support
Learning about life cycles, coastal threats, artificial lighting, community conservation, and why nests and encounters cannot be promised.
Indigofera & Natural Dye
Connecting cultivation, fermentation, pigment, cloth, dyeing, patience, and cultural knowledge.
Waste Sorting
Separating organic waste, plastic, glass, paper, metal, reusable materials, and residual waste while reducing unnecessary consumption.
Driftwood & Found Materials
Creative reuse without removing living plants, coral, occupied shells, protected objects, or habitat materials.
RESPONSIBLE WILDLIFE POLICY
Nature Follows Its Own Schedule
- No guaranteed adult turtle, tracks, nests, hatchlings, or release activity.
- No wildlife handling without proper authorisation and responsible local supervision.
- No digging into nests, moving eggs, flash photography near sensitive animals, or staging wildlife for photographs.
- No publication of precise nest locations or confidential conservation information.
- Animal welfare and local conservation priorities come before visitor satisfaction.
CULTURE IS LIVED
Not a Performance Made Only for Visitors
Language
Indonesian and Javanese expressions reveal relationships, respect, humour, age, and context. A respectful effort matters more than perfect pronunciation.
Food
Meals reveal geography, farming, trade, religion, economics, season, memory, and hospitality.
Wayang, Keris & Stories
Traditional objects and stories carry artistic, historical, symbolic, philosophical, and personal meaning. Ask before touching or photographing them.
Batik & Natural Colour
A process involving cloth, wax, canting, plants, repeated dyeing, drying, and patient craft—not a quick souvenir factory.
Contemporary Culture
Film, television, novels, songs, digital media, migration, and community campaigns are also part of culture today.
Family & Community
Local residents have work, privacy, knowledge, humour, responsibilities, limits, and choices. They are not attractions.
RESPONSIBLE PARTICIPATION
How Guests Can Help
- Ask permission before photographing or recording people, children, cultural objects, ceremonies, private areas, environmental work, or wildlife.
- Listen before proposing solutions or presenting yourself as an expert.
- Do not publish wildlife nest locations, private family information, or confidential community details.
- Reduce water and electricity use, sort waste, and follow household instructions.
- Accept that weather, season, local work, family responsibilities, and wildlife determine what is possible.
- Respect a refusal without argument. Consent to a photograph does not automatically permit commercial publication or location tagging.
- Dress and behave appropriately for family, village, cultural, religious, and field situations.
- Understand that meaningful exchange moves in both directions: guests also bring culture, knowledge, questions, and responsibility.
GROUP LEARNING
Schools, Communities & Small Organisations
Programs may combine coffee, the 5M Movement, natural dye, food, writing, culture, and environmental learning. A proposal should explain participant numbers and ages, learning goals, date, duration, transport, meals, materials, safety, documentation, and budget.
